A moment that will live in Seattle Sounders history forever, Stefan Frei's incredible save against Jozy Altidore in the 108th minute of MLS Cup Final. "The Save" kept the Sounders in the game and helped the team win their first-ever MLS Cup on that cold, winter night in Toronto.
For the first time since that game, Toronto and Seattle will square off for their only meeting of the season. Of course, we could always play them again in MLS Cup but that's a long way off.
Toronto is currently tied for second in the East with 16 points through nine game played while the Sounders are in seventh place in the West with 10 points through eight games. Toronto enters this game on a three game winning streak but their last three games were all at home where they are unbeaten in 2017. Their last lost came on the road against Columbus.
Seattle was lucky to salvage a point last week against the New England Revolution and they cannot fall behind Toronto like they did against the Revs.We expect pretty much the same lineup from the Sounders this weekend with Roman Torres slotting back in while Chad Marshall is still out with a bad back.
Jordy Delem will need to have the game of his life to contain Sebastian Giovinco. He will need stay home more often than not but it is also important that he picks the right time to move forward. On the left side, it would be nice to Joevin Jones get his crosses in a little quicker. He was 2/12 last week on crosses and both of the two he connected on, became goals.
Also, remember that kickoff is slated for high noon in Seattle and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
